Open Roles / LC-REQ-T0K43M-S
Enterprise Pre-Sales Engineer, West (NW/SW)
Enterprise Endpoint Software Vendor
About the opportunity
Our client builds a secure endpoint operating system that layers built in security, containerization, a hypervisor, IT and OT support, and digital signage onto proven VDI and application delivery, backed by long term private equity investment. The client is deliberately moving from a single product position into a platform, so the technical surface is widening rather than settled.
This is the technical pre-sales seat for enterprise accounts across the western United States. You will be the person who proves the platform works, in front of the architects and executives who have to believe it.
The hiring team has set exactly two hard requirements, listed below. Everything else in this posting strengthens an application without being a barrier to one. If you have deep Linux and you can present, they want to talk to you.
The role
As Enterprise Pre-Sales Engineer for the West region, you will own technical pre-sales end to end: discovery, solution architecture, proof of concepts, and executive presentations across Northwest and Southwest enterprise accounts.
You will work alongside enterprise sales as the technical lead on complex cycles, and build the credibility with technical stakeholders that moves a platform decision forward.
What you will own
Discovery and Solution Architecture
- Run technical discovery with enterprise prospects and map requirements to a workable architecture
- Design and present solutions that hold up under scrutiny from infrastructure, security, and end user computing teams
- Position the platform accurately against competing approaches, including the honest trade offs
- Shape the technical approach on complex, multi stakeholder enterprise opportunities
Demonstrations and Proof of Concepts
- Lead technical demonstrations tailored to what the account actually cares about
- Scope, run, and land proof of concepts with clear success criteria agreed up front
- Troubleshoot live, in the room, with real environments and real constraints
- Turn a successful proof of concept into a technical recommendation the customer can defend internally
Enterprise Sales Cycle Support
- Partner with enterprise sales as the technical lead across the western region
- Own the technical content of RFP and RFI responses
- Present to both technical audiences and executive stakeholders, and adjust the altitude for each
- Help qualify opportunities honestly, including the ones that are not a fit
Technical Relationships and Platform Expertise
- Build durable relationships with the technical decision makers inside enterprise accounts
- Develop deep expertise in the endpoint platform and its competitive landscape
- Feed field and competitive signal back to product and engineering
- Act as a trusted technical voice for customers in the region
What we are looking for
Required
- Deep hands on Linux. RHEL, Ubuntu, or Unix, at a level where you are comfortable working in the operating system rather than around it.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. The final interview round is a 15 minute presentation on a topic you are passionate about, and it does not have to be a technical one.
Preferred
- Enterprise account experience, selling or supporting sales into large, complex organizations
- End user computing, VDI, or endpoint ecosystem background, for example Omnissa, Citrix, Nutanix, or Nerdio
- Exposure to tap and go or proximity badge authentication, for example Imprivata
- Experience with VMware Horizon, application delivery, or cloud hosted desktop environments
- Presence in the Northwest or Southwest, which helps with account coverage
- A track record of running proof of concepts that closed
Why this seat
- Two hard requirements, and that is genuinely it. Everything else ranks a candidate rather than filtering one out, so strong Linux and strong communication get you a conversation.
- Platform breadth. Security, containerization, hypervisor, IT and OT, and digital signage sit on top of established VDI and application delivery, so the technical surface is wide rather than a single product demo.
- Remote across the West, owning a region rather than a queue, with long term private equity backing behind the roadmap.
